SATANIC TALES OF INDIAN MEDIA!

SATANIC TALES OF INDIAN MEDIA!

Indian media is no more a flagbearer of truth and righteousness. Instead, it is an ambassador of lies and misinformation. Indian journalists believe in the Goeblean Principle that a lie told one hundred times, becomes a truth. It wholly solely, dishes out a bundle of lies , packaged as truth. This is the only truth about Indian mediaa. A few few days back I had written an article on the mischievous news published by Indian Media with satanic intent. ( Read me at this link :- https://www.facebook.com/RajeeKachhwaha/posts/10207944047821184) . Most often the editorial boards of Print and electronic media do not even verify the news stories spun out of the ill read and poorly informed minds of journalists on the field jobs

Unfortunately, law of the land protects such journalists who, under the excuse of protection of source,  do not ever reveal the source. Most often these tales are carried out with the evil intent of character assassination of individuals. Or even to mislead the public. What is worse is when media starts trials of accused on its own. Take the cases of SHEENA BORA MURDER and AARUSHI TALWAR MURDER. All sort of conspiracy theories are thrown in to not only confuse the public but also the investigators. Even the judges , in some cases,  get carried away.

Thus, Indian media assumes the role self righteousness  without ever verifying facts. It's reactions are impulsive. Look at the debates on the Indian news channels. The anchors behave as "Mr. KNOW ALLs". They do not even allow the experts to make their points. Their self- righteousness is so far fetched that they add spin to everything against the Establishment.

Look at the twist given to Sangeeta Kalia case. She was the erstwhile SSP at Ambala in Haryana. She misbehaved with a Minister and administrative action was taken against her and she was transferred , which was the prerogative of the government. Media makes a story as the highhandedness of the government against a woman and a DALIT OFFICER,. How ridiculous is this? Can the government not take action against an erring police officer? What has her caste got to do with it? In case, government was against a woman and Dalit Officer , why would it have posted her as SSP of Ambala ? As representative of the people, Minister had rightly questioned her on illegal bootlegging. Instead of replying politely, she became arrogant and dismissive of the minister. Who would accept such disobedience? It clearly shows as to how irresponsible is Indian media!

Worst part is when caught on a wrong foot , it merely publishes one liner REGRET and gets away with it. Just think about the debate  in the Parliament on intolerance. Leftist MP, Mohammed Salim, blamed Home Minister for  purported to have made a statement after 2014 General Elections to say that  first time after 800 years a Hindu Ruler had come to power. When Raj Nath Singh put his political career at an altar and questioned this statement attributed to him. Mohammed Salim produced an article published in the OUTLOOK Magazine in 2014. When it was denied, imagazine merely regretted having attributed this statement to Rajnath Singh without verifying it. This is the credibility of Indian Media, always looking to create conflicts and controversies. Instead of bringing out truth, nit sells lies to the public. My recommendation to Indian public is : TRUST INDIAN MEDIA AT PERIL TO YOUR OWN MENTAL DISHARMONY AND PSYCHE..

Here is an extract of NDTV NEWS article on this spat :  " ----Outlook magazine, admitting its error, issued a statement, saying, "In this story, a remark ("first Hindu ruler after 800 years") made by the late Ashok Singhal of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad was erroneously attributed to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Outlook deeply regrets the lack of diligence in verifying the source of the statement. It was not our intention to denigrate the home minister or Parliament. Outlook sincerely regrets the embarrassment caused to Mr. Rajnath Singh and Mr. Mohammad Salim."------

GO, HAVE YOUR TAKE AND SAYi

MISCHIEVOUS MEDIA WITH MISCHIEVOUS NEWS ITEMS!

MISCHIEVOUS  MEDIA WITH MISCHIEVOUS NEWS ITEMS!

AR Rehman, noted Indian Music Director and Oscar Award winner, when asked by media men on Amir Khan's recent statement,  referred to an incident when he was issued a fatwa by a Muslim organization some months back . But Indian media, particularly Times Of India and NDTV, have linked it with Amir Khan's statement to make it look as if RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE is because of Hindus / RSS/ VHP/ or BJP.

There is a definite intent of the media to mislead the people by giving such head lines. Unfortunately, highly educated Indians are also being misled by such headlines without knowing the full contents. One of my friends, a retired Army officer, fell prey to this and remarked , " Look at what RSS was doing? " I had to clarify to him that it was NOT RSS  but a MUSLIM organization called Raza Academy of Pune, who had issued Fatwa to Rehman. Read the headlines on TIMES OF INDIA :-----

" AR REHMAN IDENTIFIES WITH AMIR KHAN AND FEELS WITH HIM, SAYS HE WAS IN THE SIMILAR SITUATION"

It may be recollected that AR Rahman was referring to Mumbai-based Raza Academy's fatwa against him after he composed the music for Iranian film 'Muhammad: Messenger of God', which alleged that the title was humiliating to the Prophet. At that time, chief ministers of Delhi and UP had cancelled Rahman's concerts at the last minute. What a show of  religious tolerance by Arvind Kejriwal and Mulayam Singh Yadav! Not a whimper of a noise by anyone in the country. I think Javed Akhtar and Mahesh Bhat were holidaying some where and SRK was busy shooting his movies. Surprisingly, none of the award returning celebrities spoke about it, then.  No one heard Rahul Gandhi talking about it; nor that LIES BRIGADE of the Congress party.

Dadri incident happened in the state of Uttar Pradesh and whole blame is palmed off to RSS. I am no supporter of RSS or these so called Hindu organizations but I am suspicious of Congress, who can play any mischief to come back to power. Dadri incident could well be an exploitation  by Vested interests, whether Congress or others of a 'Beef row' by some Hindu Organisations--- not necessarily, they were involved.

As for as the issue of NOT allowing Pakistani Singers in Mumbai by Shiv Sena , it has nothing to do with Religion. It only showed opposition to Pakistan,  who is at war with India through its band of " Irregular Soldiers", called " Strategic Assets". How is it the rise of Religious intolerance? But media is making it look like a religious intolerance. It mixes Freedom of Speech with religious intolerance. It stinks of some mischief.

Freedom of  speech is a two way traffic. It can not be one way movement. Well! If you have the rights to allow a Pakistani to release his book in India, others have the rights to oppose him. Media can not have the cake and eat it, too. It is gross violation of VOLTAIREAN PRINCIPLE of Freedom of Speech, who is alleged to have said something like this:  I disapprove of what you say but I will support you to my death in allowing you to say what you want to say.

While I appreciate debate on religious intolerance, it must not be one sided blame game. This is what I infer from the present debate. I have no doubts, it has been orchestrated by mischievous Congress and Media is playing the role of its foot soldiers. No doubts, Congress has been helped by BJP's arrogant mouthpieces, who have no idea of how they were falling prey to Congress scheme of things. Shortsightedness of persons like Shaksi Maharajs and Yogi Adityanaths are providing ammunition to Congress shooters. This is a very dangerous game. Congress is playing very dirty games.

Look at the allegations against Congress recently made to President of India in a memorandum by Sukhbir Badal, Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab . But media is dismissing it as Assmbly Elections tantrum of Akalis. Those, who live in Punjab, they know what is going on. "Bajwa- Arvinder " rivalry of present day Congress in Punjab is reminiscent of "Zail Singh - Darbara Singh" rivalry of the 70s of last decade, which led to the rise of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale. A similar situation is being created by stooges of Rahul Gandhi and Media is dismissing it as an election stunt.

Every Punjabi knows that recently held Sarbat Khalsa meeting of the Sikhs at Bhatinda was articulated by Congress. Some nasti and anti national resolutions were passed in the presence of Congress leaders of the state. Surprisingly, blind Indian Media took no notice of such a Congress presence in the meeting. The shortsightedness of selfish media could prove detrimental to India's nationhood. In the days of Competitive politics , Akalis might also adopt similar methods and the peace in Punjab would be disturbed. It has happened in the past and it can happen now.

I therefore ore dismiss this entire debate on religious intolerance as manipulated and orchestrated by power hungrry congress and indian media is a willing or unwitting partner to a war against Indian nationhood. If the debate has to take place then, it must be all inclusive, not merely statements by Congress stooges. Return of awards is a drama by those people who were awarded these awards by congress regime and they are now returning the favour------- in the hope of bigger awards, if Congress returns to power. Who does not know where do lie the sympathies of SRK and Amir Khan? Warning to Media is: If Punjab goes back to the dark days of 80s and 90s of the last Century and India faces a second partition, then, Indian media would have to share the blame along with congress and its stooges. Excess of freedom and liberty is as bad as excess of Central control and discipline.

WISH LIST VIS- A- VIS DISHLIST- PHILOSOPHY OF HAPPINESS!

"WISH LIST" VERSUS "DISH LIST": PHILOSOPHY OF HAPPINESS!

Each one of us has a "Wish List" in life. This is primarily the ramifications of our ambitions in life. Such a  manifestation of desires of a human being stem from a need for advancement and achievements in life. Not necessarily, all would be achieved There are always hits and misses. What we actually get in life makes our "Dish List". In other words, going to a restaurant and ordering a meal. What you have on the "Plate" and what you have in the "Menu", would differentiate the two lists.

Wishes are achieved NOT by dreaming and merely desiring but working for them. The fulfillment of wishes leads to happiness and satisfaction. Non fulfillment leads to disappointment and dissatisfaction. When dissatisfaction overrides satisfaction , it causes frustration of human mind. This is where the tale of 'Spider and King Bruce' becomes very very inspiring. In fact, 'failure' is the first stepping stone to grand success.

Francoise D Roche, a French philosopher and author had once said, "we promise according to our hopes but perform according to our fears". How true is this? The battle is always between our hopes and fears. Therefore most often one fails because one was overpowered by self generated fears. Fear leads to caution and caution curtails one's risk taking ability. And remember, nothing can be achieved without some amount of risk in your decision making.

" Wish list" and " Dish list" are the same for those who relentlessly remain focussed on their objectives and spare no efforts in achieving them. Fulfillment of Wish list is directly proportional to the efforts put in. Self- doubts; half- hearted efforts and lack of preparation are the causes which reduce the contents of your " Dish List". No wish is easy to come. Try, try again. On the heap of failed efforts, lies the plateau of success. A modern adage is : Quitters never win; winners never quit.

In the above context, we ought to narrate to ourselves, time and again, the fable of a THIRSTY CROW with a morale which says: Where there is a will, there is a way. Satisfaction of thirst leads to happiness. Thirst can be physical need or a mental desire. Both add to our wish list. It is their satisfaction which leads to happiness. We must understand the equation for Happiness is : Wish List ( WL) minus Dish List ( DL) is equal to Zero Or to put it arithmetically, it is: WL -DL = 0.

In other words, if the gap between the two is more, it increases unhappiness. Thus the degree of happiness/ unhappiness is directly proportional to the size of the gap between Wish List and Dish List. Less gap, more happiness; more gap , less happiness. The corollary to this rule is that in order to be happy, number of wishes / desire be curtailed so as to reduce the gap in the wish list and Dish list.

Wish list can be progressive. To fill up your bowl initially, right at the beginning, it is to cause indigestion and constipation. In life, one must move from bound to bound; achievement to achievement in a progressive manner. Do not congest your bowl of wishes at any stage. Our hopes must match our fears so as to ensure our promises and performances are pegged at keel with each other.

CONGRESS AND ITS DIRTY TRICKS DEPARTMENT!

CONGRESS AND ITS DIRTY TRICKS: SIDING WITH RADICALS !

Sukhbir  Badal, deputy chief Minister of Punjab has alleged in a memorandum to the President of India on 22 November 2015 that  Congress has links with the Khalistani organizations and using them to disturb peace and harmony in the state of Punjab. It is a very serious allegation and it can not be made without some evidence with the Punjab government. It must not be dismissed lightly. Indian media must go into details and find out the truth. Merely giving Congress rejoinder is not enough.  Knowing Congress past history allegation can not be easily discounted.

It may be recollected that some two months back Torn pages ( called "BIRS" ) of Guru Granth Sahib ( Holy book of Sikhs) were thrown around in Moga and four other cities of Punjab. it aroused the communal passions and many Sikh organizations were enraged. Investigations by Punjab Government gave indications that a conspiracy was hacked up in Australia and Dubai by some NRI Sikhs, who had links with ISI of Pakistan.

It is suspected that some of these NRI Sikhs have close ties with some Congress leaders, who wants to disturb peace in Punjab by hurting Religious sentiments. The aim of congress is alleged to be to create communal tension in the state so as to make some political gains for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Punjab in the year 2017. If so, it is a very dangerous and malicious intent with serious repercussions for the security and integrity of the nation.

Punjab has just begun to recover from the horrendous days of militancy seen in the two decades of 80s and 90s of the last Century. Pakistan is desperately trying to revive the hey days of militancy in Punjab. The fires of those  militancy days have yet not been fully doused; flames are still simmering. It must be noted unless there was some internal combustion, outside agents can not do much. Willingly or unwittingly, if Congress has chosen to fuel this fire , then, it ought to be checked now.

Who does not know the causes of the start of earlier militancy in Punjab? Even a new born child in Punjab would tell you that it was the outcome of political rivalry between two tall Congress leaders i.e.  Giani Zail Singh and Darbara Singh, which sparked it. Later, Zail Singh created Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale to counter Akali hold on rural peasantry.

Giani Zail Singh being the right hand man of Indra Gandhi, it won't be a surprise , if she had consented to Zail Singh to use of JS. Bhindrawale. His rise gave a fillip to militancy in Punjab and he became a larger than life image, bigger than his own creator. His rise was exploited by Pakistan. It was the short sightedness of congress which led to two decades of blood shed in Punjab. It seems Congress has NOT learnt a lesson from this folly of her.

The gory days of that period have left many a scars on the nation's psyche. Use of force in the Golden Temple to flush out Bhindrawale; killing of Indra Gandhi; Anti-Sikh riots of 1984 and martyrdom of Sh. Beant Singh in 1994 are some of the painful milestones of those dark days. Is Rahul Gandhi trying to foist those days on Punjab?  Whatever explanations/ clarifications Captain Amrender, Congress leader in Punjab, might give but he can not deny that JS Bhindrawale was Congress creation.

After the Golden Temple fiasco, even Captain Amrender Singh had left Congress and joined Akali Dal. He was hurt, too. Who would know Punjab's halcyon days history better than him. His defence of Rahul Gandhi is unconvincing. People of Punjab know that Congress always has handful dirty tricks up its sleeves. It has kept the nation divided over caste, creed, region, religion and lingual issues.

It created the myth of 'Majority and Minority' to create its captive vote Bank. It's shadowy secularism has kept the so called minorities staying away from main stream. The interests of its power brokers in these communities lay in keeping them illiterate and poor. This ensures their vote bank intact. Special privileges have been bestowed upon castes and regions in the form of reservations and special protection of hill states. These provisions in the constitution have led  to islands of conflicts within the nation. It is time sensible leaders like Captain Amrender Singh do some soul searching and leave this dangerous path.

Sukhbir Badal has given the memorandum to President Parnab Mukherjee, once a tallest and well informed leader of Congress. He very well knows the inside story of Punjab Militancy. He must be deeply worried because he knows the Congress very well. He ought to advice Sonia and Rahul Gandhi to stop such venturing for short term political gains.

We must understand that it was the competitive politics of Congress and Akalis  that Punjab had witnessed, which accounted for both using extremists to counter each other. Same competitiveness might compel present day Akali leadership to do the same. When two monkeys fight, an outside cat will certainly take adbvantage. Definitely, ISI of Pakistan is waiting for this game to begin. Nation and it's president can not ignore the allegations made by Sukhbir Badal. Past history of Congress substantiates them. If this time, Punjab goes back to those days, it would be catastrophic for the whole nation. Wake up India, listen to Sukhbir Badal, now. Do not blame Akalis later.

NITISH KUMAR AS PM, WHAT RUBBISH , FAROOK ABDULLA

NITISH KUMAR AS A PRIME MINISTER: WHAT A RUBBISH Mr. FAROOK ABDULLA?

Farook Abdulla has said that Nitish Kumar should prepare to be the Prime Minister of India. I think Farook was out of his mind. He should know that it was Lallu who was calling the shots in Bihar and NOT Nitish Kumar. The elevation of his two sons in second and 3rd position in the cabinet is a clear indication that Nitish would be forced to play Lallu's game or he would break the coalition. Nitish is a mere puppet in the hands of Lallu.

My Observation on Bihar is: while Nitish is a lame duck CM; It was Lallu who was the Super CM. Nitish would have no option but to dance to the tunes of Lallu Parsad Yadav, who nourishes his own ambition to become the Prime Minister of India. And his first major task would be to manipulate the judicial system in Bihar to acquit himself of conviction in the Fodder Scam case.

Bihar election results show that NITISH KUMAR and JDU were the real loser and RJD is the main gainer. JDU tally came down from 115 to 71 in the last assembly--- Lallu went up from 15 to 80. BJP lost 42 seats , JDU lost 44. While BJP vote bank is intact at 34.5 % ; JDU has come down from 37% to 17%. This clearly shows that Nitish was the real loser. And losers in a winning combination has NO say. Nitish would be the charming face of the coalition  with its ugly face inside.

NITISH as PM--- what a rubbish Mr. Farook Abdulla? He is NOT even CM of Bihar, despite that grand swearing in Show! The large gathering of who's who of Indian politics at swearing in ceremony of Nitish Kumar was actually a drama by Nitish and JDU to show to the world that Nitish would be the Ring Master of Bihar Circus of Ruling Junta. It shows , he was himself NOT sure of his own status. He needed the crutches of glittery of Indian politics to convince himself.

I often note that spectacular election results generally blind the political observers. And they begin to write off the losers! Take the JANTA PARTY victory in 1977; CONGRESS Victory in 1984. Why go so far back into time? Look at the recent BJP/ NDA victory in 2014 and AAP victory in Delhi in 2015!
Massive election victories often end up in massivedisappointments. AAP is one such example of this disappointment. All the same , Narender Modi might NOT have delivered on the home front but he has made a niche for India in the International market. His efforts at domestic front have yet to bear fruits. I am not saying that Narender Modi was better than others  but he seems to be visibly showing intentions to deliver.

The politics of others is only to gang up against him. This will prove disastrous for them in 2019. Anti- Modi brigade must realise that focus on Modi would NOT get them a win in 2019 but their performance. They must note that by 2019, some of Modi's efforts would begin to show the results.

By focussing on criticising Modi, the Anti- Modi Brigade of Indian politics, is playing a losing game right from the start. Some of these microdots of Indian politics might not realise that Congress party was using them to regain its lost status in Indian Politics. However it forgets that it can not rejuvenate itself like it did in 1980. It had , then, charismatic leaders like Indra and Sanjay Gandhi. But present leadership has neither the charisma not the qualities --- they only bank upon manipulations and lies. How long Congress can fool Indian masses. Its winning 27 seats in Bihar Elections is a mere flash in the PAN----final flickering by the flame of a lamp before it goes out.

What says you? Have your say!

TOLERANCE, SRK AND YOGI ADITYANATH

TOLERANCE, SHAHRUKH KHAN (SRK) AND YOGI ADITYANATH !

What is tolerance? To me, it seems, 'Restraint and responsibility laced with magnanimity'. In other words, it is one's ability to exercise self control and stay composed when provoked mentally or physically. If one reacts under whatever reasons, it is intolerance. To pontificate others in the name of freedom of expression is no excuse. To be frank , if you are a celebrity or a public figure , this need for restraint and self control increases manifold.

In an age of competitive religions and competitive politics, there is always a game of action and counter action. Responsible public figures must not make statements which will draw ire from other side. Tolerance is all about ignoring pointing barbs by other side which provoke you. Difference of opinion is not intolerance but adding emotions to it is intolerance. When a celebrity or a public figure jumps into a raging controversy, it is an indication that he has lost self control and has been swayed by his emotions.

A Public figure must realise that Indian Media is a double edged weapon. It cuts both ways. It would extract a sound byte from one side and then rush to other by making it more spicy. Thus, it starts a never ending verbal wrestling match. It plays a pimping game in such scenarios. It adds fuel to the fire by bringing in opposing views. Accordingly, a non issue becomes a controversy. SRK and Yogi Adityanath controversy is result of this tell- tale issue.

SRK should have known that any remarks of his on "religious Intolerance" was representation of his own intolerance. May be remark was deliberately made to provoke respondents of "intolerance debate". And he did get a mouthful from the respondents. What does he mean by "growing religious Intolerance"? Taking sides on controversial issues publicly, shows sparks of personal intolerance. Therefore what is the difference between SRK and Yogi Adityanath. If SRK reacted on "Beef eating", So did Yogi Adityanath on his allegation of Religious Intolerance.

We must note that Shiv Sena opposition to Ghulam Ali and Pakistani artists was not because of religion but nationality. How can this be  branded as " Religious Intolerance"? Mumbai swarms with Muslim actors and artists without any opposition by Shiv Sena.  Rightly or wrongly, opposition to Pakistan by certain segments of Indian society was inherent in the Two Nation Theory. The issue is not of really of Intolerance but of fabricated concept of "Hindu Majority" and imported concept of Secularism to fight this fabricated myth of Hindu Majority.

So, the battle lines were drawn right at the birth of this country, when "Two Nation" theory was accepted by Congress, against the wishes of Mahatma Gandhi. At the heart of this problem was exclusion of Muslims from the overall gamut of a modern word "Indian". In other words, the definition of a 'Hindu of Hindustan', should have been at par with the word "Indian" and inclusive of a Muslim, a Sikh, a Budhist etc and not open a can of worm by calling Hinduism a separate religion as Two Nation theory stated. While "Two Nation Theory' incorporated, Sikhs, Budhists, Jains, Parsis, Jews, Jats, Rajputs, Brahmins, Dalits and Kayasths, all, with their different rituals and processes in the lap of Hinduism, it excluded Muslims. This was a faulty thought and out of tune with the stratagem of a multicultural society. This seeded the Intolerance, we see today. This is what should be avoided by guys like Shah Rukh Khan.

Take the case of Professor Kulburgi. Is the freedom of speech meant to slight and berate other man's belief and faith. Going public with it is a heinous crime. It is your intolerance. How do you expect others to be tolerant when you preach urinating over Hindu idols? During a seminar, in June 2014, Kalburgi had denounced idol worship as a “meaningless ritual”, angering Sangh parivar elements. He further added, “One can even urinate on idols”, while quoting from a distinguished Kannada scholar Professor U.R. Ananthamurthy’s work.In the work, the Jnanpith award winning litterateur, Ananthamurthy had narrated how he had pissed on an idol to prove that the idol had no powers and to rid himself of the fear induced by his traditional upbringing.

One is welcome to hold such views in private. But should you go public, you are hurting others. Claiming to urinate on Hindu idols is a bigger sin than publishing prophet Mohammed's Cartoons? It enraged the Muslim's all over, including Shah Rukh Khan. Where was SHARUKH Khan when Salman Rushdie's book was banned or when he was disallowed from Jaipur Literary Festival ?

Where was Shah Rukh Khan when Taslima Nasreen was hounded in Hyderabad and thrown out of the country. This selective approach of Shah Rukh khan was bound to invite counter views of other side. Who does not about this drama being enacted by paid agents of Congress ? And everyone knows where does Shah rukh Khan stand politically. When Shah Rukh khan was supporting such views, he is bound to invite reaction from persons like Yogi Adityanath. It was Shah Rukh Khan's political intolerance , couched in Religious tones, that needs to be questioned. It is not to say that one supports BJP or Modi and to say the least to support yogi Adityanath. No, Never.

HINDU CUSTOM AND FESTIVAL BASHING BY UNCOUTH INDIAN JOURNALISTS , IS IT JUSTIFIED?

HINDU CUSTOM AND FESTIVAL BASHING BY UNCOUTH INDIAN JOURNALISTS , IS IT JUSTIFIED?

It is not really about Karva Chauth but about excessive criticism of Hindu Beliefs and myths by most of the electronic and print media journalists. Have they ever questioned why Muslims keep Rozas for 30 days? Have they ever written why Christian believe that Merry was a virgin? Problem with such so called and self styled intellectuals is to denounce anything everything regarding Hinduism----- to the extent of ridiculing and  slighting it. (There is an article on NDTV news By Manika Aggarwal ridiculing the Karva Chauth Festival-----------this piece is to question such views of Half read Indians-------educated on Western Beliefs)

By the way, I am NOT a Hindu Fanatic;  nor do I believe that Hindu was a religion. Hindu Majority of this country is a myth because it was a conglomeration of religions, temporal sects, castes and communities as is the word INDIAN of Modern India.  Hindu, in ancient times, was actually a GEOGRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION of a culture by ancient Persians, who believed that East of River Indus (Sindhu in Sanskrit) were Hindus.

The name Hindu derives itself from Sindhu , which was pronounced with apostrophe " S" by ancient Persians, so it became Hindu for them. When the word travelled West to Greece and Turkey it became "Indu", "Indie" or "indica", thus came the name India. Even the name Hindustan is a Persian word. HINDU KUSH mountain range became the defining Eastern boundary of this region for the ancient Persians. The word was first described on a Tablet by King Darius -1 of Persia in 518 BC, who claimed to have ruled upto River HINDU ( Sindhu) .(Refer to History Of India by John Keay, British Historian and Indologist).

Therefore, "Hindu" is an ancient representation of the modern word "Indian" . It contained all temporal sects of those days, such as Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Jainism and Budhism. It was only in 530 AD, exactly one thousand years later after its first appearance, that it was given a religious connotation, by King of Kashmir, Gopaladitya , a Hun King and a son of a Hun (Chinese) tyrant Mihir Kula, when he told his Kashmiri Minister to convert to Hinduism. Thus a culture of peaceful coexistence and tolerance philosophy acquired religious connotation. According to John Keay, in his book INTO INDIA, even as late as 19th Century, Sikhism, Budhism and Jainism were considered sub sects of Hinduism. In most part of India, Muslims too, celebrated Hindu festivals such as Diwali and Raksha Bandhan.

It is unfortunate that Colonial Masters divided a composite Cultural along religious and communal lines in pursuit of their " Divide and Rule" policy but this gulf was further widened by Western educated Nehruvian policies and directives. Nehru had no idea of Indian composite culture and his secularism was to ridicule Hinduism by denouncing everything associated with it. He created the myth of NON EXISTENT Hindu Majority and thus pitted everyone against it. The name "Hindustan" should have told him that it was inclusive of all religions, regions, caste and creeds. His Western knowledge and up- bringing divided the nation into MAJORITY and MINORITIES.  He was confused with the words 'culture and religion'. Thus, organizations, such as RSS , Hindu MahaSabha , Arya Samaj etc.picked up the gauntlet and acquired  relevance as divisive forces. Nehru, rather than equating the word "Hindu" with its modern offshoot "Indian",  created the wedge by laying too much emphasis on Western concept of SECULARISM. He did not understand that Word Hindu was the mother of "Indian Secularism".

Nehruvian philosophy had the impact on Indian education policy, whereby generations of Indian grew up thinking Secularism was something separate from Hinduism. It was never so and it is NOT so. The multiplicity of Gods and goddesses and multiple ritual practices are the testimony to its Secular credentials. It is NOT rigid. The beauty of this culture is that it was self assimilating. If you go to Kashmir of Old days, you will find that Kashmiris relished 'Halal' Meat. It is a staple diets of some Kashmiri Pundits even today. It is only politics and Wester education of most Indians that the word Hindu has been deprived of its Secular contents.

In view of the above, my contention is that all the festivals of ancient India were designed with a specific purpose of bonding the family together---- these family rituals then magnified into societal and Community festivals to create the same bonding. It was to generate feeling of oneness and to invoke co- existence and tolerance to make the society harmonious and peaceful. In USA of today, they are creating these kind of Bondings through various days they celebrate. Even all these new concepts of Father's Day , Mothers Day, Friendship Day, Daughter's day have the same logic.

Therefore , while the western world is trying to copy, ancient Indian Philosophy to generate peace and harmony but half read, and half educated journalists of India are ridiculing these customs and traditions. It is NOT their fault because Indian education system , founded by Nehru and perpetuated by Congress have created these modern myths. They need to be demolished and Secularism of Hindu philosophy of peaceful coexistence and tolerance has to be genuinely promulgated in India.

TOLERANCE AND INTOLERANCE !

Kshama badan ko chahiye, chhotan ko utpaat,
Ka "Vishnu" Ka ghat gayo, "Bhrigu" Jo maari laat |
(Let Elders give pardon and let Youngsters commit sin,
No harm was done to "Vishnu" when "Bhrigu" kicked Him.)
"Elders" does not only mean age but it also implies thoughts, knowledge and learning. It includes men of vision and philosophy. Who do you attribute this verse to? English Media, half -read honchos, kindly pardon me because it would fly over your heads like supersonic F-16 jets. But if some of you have read Hindi Literature, then most of you would jump up and say, "Kabir". Yes, you are right. But who was Kabir? Well! Kabir was a Muslim , belonging to "Weavers" community. What was he, a Muslim, saying by quoting from so called "Hindu" scriptures? Definitely, he was giving us an important lesson in "tolerance". Please note that he existed almost 500 years back during the medieval period of Indian History.
This was a faulty thought and out of tune with the stratagem of a multicultural society. This seeded the Intolerance, we see today.
To practice tolerance is to be "magnanimous", big hearted person! This is what Kabir had spelt out. You have to accept the sins and wrong- doings of those who are narrow minded and lack the ability to think on the broader prospects of society. Magnanimity is to end conflict and confrontation by showing a big pardoning heart and not to widen its scope by making it look unpardonable. When one questions the sin of others, you become unforgiving and intolerant. If you do so, you have committed the same sin. Swami Dayananad Saraswati had preached that hate not the sinner but the sin. By being big hearted person, you make the sinner feel small. In so doing , you attack the sin. My question to all these actors, writers, poets and intellectuals returning awards on account of intolerance shown by a handful few towards Pakistani singers/ Authors or beef eaters is : Aren't you showing smallness of your mind by being intolerant towards a handful few? Definitely, you are. In fact, you are dividing the society by your narrow mindedness and impulsive act. It seems your opposition is politically orchestrated rather than being genuine.
If it was genuine, then you should start a nation wide movement against this and convince people, why they should accept Pakistani singers/ authors/ actors even if Pakistan was committing gory acts on the borders. You have to convince the Indian masses and NOT a political party. But you have done is to attack a political ideology rather than the sin which needed to be addressed. You have to make the society understand that eating beef was permitted in a religion, so it was not to be questioned. You have to explain by giving examples such as that Kashmiri pundits still relish Halal meat. Please inform the North India's, so called "Hindu society", that in Karnataka and certain other parts of South India, marriage amongst cousins was NOT a taboo. It was NOT an exclusive Muslim practice alone.
Tragedy is 40% Indians are illiterate and 70 % do not know the culture and traditions of people living in regions 100 Kms away. This is being exploited by nasty politicians over the last 68 years. In south India, such a barrier has been created over language by politicians that speaking in Hindi was a sin. It is considered imposition of North Indian Culture but speaking in English is relished as if it was a home made "Masala Dosa".
Religious intolerance to political intolerance is because of successive congress led governments of India to create caste, creed and religious barriers in the society to raise its vote bank. It treated word HINDU as a religious commodity and packaged it as such to further divide the society into Majority and Minority. India's first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru , educated in western philosophy and thoughts created this myth when he talked of Secularism of the West. He did not understand that the word HINDU was more secular than Western Secularism. He did not understand if Indians live in India; it is the same thing to say that Hindus lived in Hindustan. This would have demolished all notions of Majority and Minorities.
Hindu Majority is a definite Myth in India. All castes, sub castes, temporal sects have been grouped under this but who have their own Gods and temporal rituals. There are God men who follow their own procedures and processes. Each god man has his own cult and devotees, whether it was Guru Ma, Radhe Ma, Sudhanshu Maharaj or Rajinder Singh JI of Vyas or Nirankaris and many more such sects. They follow their own rituals and religious practices. They are all self containing temporal sects such as Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, Jews and Muslims of India. If they were Indians of India , they were also Hindus of Hindustan. Nehru's Western education did not accept this and he created this fictitious Hindu Majority by accepting such organizations as Arya Maha Sabha, who preached this non existing majority. Thereafter organizations like Rashtriya Sayam Sangh(RSS), Vishv Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal sprang up to give reality to such a non existing majority. Sixty eight years of this practice has fully divided the society, which the so called Intellectuals of today, are trying to further widen the chasm by harping about "Hindu Intolerance".
Shiv Sena is a minuscule organization, centered in Maharashtra, amongst a population of 1250 millions Indians. But these intellectuals are making Shiv Sena look like a larger than life organization and thus giving it a unwanted publicity by returning their awards. I feel ashamed in calling them intellectuals, who do not even understand that Shiv Sena represented not even two percent of Indian population. Either they did not deserve these awards or they do not understand the simple arithmetic of the myth of Hindu Majority. They are fooling themselves by reacting to incidents designed to provoke them and make Shiv Sena a house hold name in India. Such a stupidity would sure further create a chasm of unbridgeable dimensions in the Indian Society. They are victim of their own intolerance.

FEAR----- A JUGULAR VEIN OF HUMAN CIVILIZATION!

FEAR----- A JUGULAR VEIN OF HUMAN CIVILISATION!
Fear is the soul of human civilization. Without fear amongst human beings, everything will be topsy turvy. It is the fear of God that people try to avoid wrong doing. It is fear of punishment that most people follow rules and regulations. Fear regulates human lives.
You can see the chaos at the traffic lights, when there is no policeman around. In the Western countries, everyone follows laws because of the fear of being watched through CCTV or radars. When there is no fear instilled, there is chaos and disorder. What are laws of a nation for? They have been designed to instill fear amongst humans. If there was no fear of law, men will behave like social predators.
FEAR, WHETHER OF GOD OR GOVERNMENT OR ELDERS, IT LEADS TO ORGANISED LIVING OF HUMAN BEINGS. Fear has two kinds. It varies from Fear of UNKNOWN to Fear of VIOLATION.
Fear at of UNKNOWN leads men and women to tread the beaten path or follow the laid down social norms and laws. Status quo is another dimension of it. Indian social philosophy guides our national conduct so much that we follow the principle of Status quo with our neighbours. Our social ingredient of self contentment emanated from this fear of Unknown. It is primarily smacking of the danger that lay ahead if one ventures into terra incognito .
Human being tend to adopt an easy way out because of the existence of " Self Preservation" mechanism in every one. As an instinct everyone will avoid danger. This is fear of UNKNOWN. It has various sub categories, like the Fear of Death , fear of injury, or even fear of losing something precious something.
Fear of VIOLATION, leads people to not to violate social, national , religious and regional laws, rules and regulation. It is primarily the fear of the punishment it accrues because of violation that occurs. You jump the red light at Traffic signal, the policeman would give you a ticket. You give the secrets of your organisation to the competitor, it would invite punishment. It is basically fear of RETRIBUTION for every violation.
Fear generated by terrorist is the fear of Violation. If you do not subscribe to a terrorist wish, you will be punished by him. It is his lethal punishment which silences all opposition to his desired objectives. Silence of majority against an anarchist is the fear of violation.
The he difference between the two kinds of fear is that you might know as to what would happen in the case of Fear of Unknown; while in case of Fear of Violation, you know the exact punishment that would be meted out to you. If you committed a cold blooded rape, you should know that Death might be your final sentence. If you have stolen something, you might go to jail for some months. In such cases, it is the degree of your violation while in case of FEAR OF UNKNOWN, the severity of punishment is not known. It could come as a sudden bomb shell.
Have your take!

NATIONAL PREMIUM FOR NATIONAL SECURITY & INTEGRITY

In July 2011, I was travelling by road from SFO (San Francisco) to LA ( Los Angeles) , in USA On Highway 5. We stopped at SIX FLAGS AREA--- for refuelling and refreshment. It was 04 July---American Independence Day. I saw a notice on the restaurant entry---- Free meal and Drinks for veterans. I casually mentioned to owner that I was a veteran of Indian Army. Lo! He said " It is honour to have you here, Sir. We will give the same treatment to you" To say the least, he did not charge anything from us. What a respect for an alien soldier, who is disgraced and dishonoured in his own country! No wonders, USA is world"s only Super Power!!

It reminded me of atmosphere in Punjab vintage 1971 war--- when I was respected like this. Nations do not become great by lofty talks but by respecting the men who safeguard your honour. Respect and "IZZAT" a nation pays to its veterans, is the national premium for safety and security.

American national war memorial in Washington DC, is manned round the clock by serving soldiers. Come rain, snow and thunder, sentry stands unmoved right in the open. In our country war memorials are desecrated and disrespected. Stray dogs and wandering cows find a shelter there. A few years back, a war memorial statue at Ludhiana in Punjab was uprooted and thrown away.

I remember when General Douglas Mac Arthur was the Chief of U.S. army in 1931, American president Franklin Roosevelt proposed to cut down defence expenditure. In a meeting with President , Mac Arthur pleaded with the President not to cut. But Roosevelt did not listen to him and dismissed him. Mac Arthur got up and walked away but then turned and said: "Mr. President, when in the Next war , an American Soldier with enemy bayonet piercing his abdomen, spat out his last curse, I do not want the name to be Mac Arthur but Roosevelt." It is NO gain saying the fact that Roosevelt reversed his decision.

Compare this with Indian Generalship. They do not even have the guts to cry on the insults being heaped upon them publicly by bureaucrats and politicians. How sad we saw three Chiefs sitting as dumbos when Defence minister announced truncated OROP on 05 September 2015. Not a whimper of a protest by anyone of them. How sad they were not even consulted on PMR/ VRS issue before announcement. What was more disturbing was the facts that none of them had the guts to tell the Raksha Mantri : "Mr. Defence Minister, please tell your Prime Minister that it was a biggest insult you have heaped upon the armed forces. Armed forces will not remain the same hereafter. If the mistake is is not rectified soon, the last bastion of holding together of Indian nationhood would get disintegrated.

Sheepishly sat the three Chiefs and sheepishly they walked away. Remember the quote by Sun Yet San, an ancient Chinese Military philosopher : I AM NOT AFRAID OF AN ARMY OF 100  TIGERS LED BY A SHEEP BUT 100 SHEEP LED BY A TIGER. Well! We can now assess the impact of SUCCESSION PLAN of Chiefs of Army Staff , initiated in 2005 , during the tenure of General JJ Singh as the Chief of Army Staff.

There is a wrong notion that Military strength flows out of Economic strength. In fact it is the reverse of it. China was NO where in sixties and seventies but it successfully used its manpower to flex its military muscle to send cold sweat down the spine of USA and even USSR. Today its economy is of ten Trillion dollars while India is at Two Trillion Dollars. Mind you China became independent two years later than India.

Look at USA. Their economic strength draws out of their Military power. In ISA other than military arsenal and space research, nothing is manufactured. Everything comes from outside at terms dictated by USA. And it is a 16 trillion economy-- merely because of its military muscles.

Look at your neighbour Pakistan. It is reckoned at par with India purely because of its military powers. Giant like India is a helpless spectator to Pakistan's pinpricks because we do not have the proper military muscle to shut her up.

Finally, Mr Natender Modi must know that it was not the machine but the man behind the machine which matters. Pakistan's Sabre jets and Patton Tanks in 1965 war fell prey to Indian Gnats and Sherman tanks respectively. The Kargil war of 1999 was NOT won by the Generals sitting in the AC rooms in Delhi or Srinagar but by motivated soldiers led by spirited Captains and Majors .

What Modi Government and the bureaucrats did with the willing cooperation of the three Service Chiefs,on 05 September 2015, was to demolish the spirit and motivation of the soldiers. Unless quickly rectified,  our nation will pay a heavy price for disrespecting its veterans. And in the next war with China or Pakistan, when an Indian soldier flees from the battlefield, shame will be on this BJP Governments with veterans like General VK Singh, General Khanduri & Col Rajverdhan Rathore , and Not the soldiers because you broke their spirit. National humiliation would be worse than 1962 war. All your Raffles or Chinook deals or FDI investments would not be able to prevent this humiliation because what matters more in war is the man behind the machine.

INDIAN DEMOCRACY - A PRACTISING ANARCHY AND A FUNCTIONAL TRAGEDY!

INDIAN DEMOCRACY ---- A PRACTISING ANARCHY AND A FUNCTIONAL TRAGEDY!

Other than the unbridled freedom it gives to its citizens, democracy is the mother of chaos, disorder, corruption and retarded growth with very slow progress. India and China became free almost at the same time, but look at the difference in their progress and development?  In fact , China's freedom came two years later in 1949, however, it is not only economically and militarily miles ahead of India but it has successfully managed its internal crisis. China is the rising world power, while India is nowhere. It cannot even manage its neighbors, while China is rubbing shoulders with USA, who is under debit to China to the tune of some 1.5 trillion dollars.

Indian media , the voice of so called Indian democracy, misuses the freedom to strike at the very roots of democracy. Irresponsible freedom often leads to chaos and disorder and so it happens in India. Other day, Salman Khan issue had so much dominated the Media, one wonders,if this only was democracy. The chaos on the roads and in front of Salman's house was the result of the hype created by media. The mob was uncontrollable. In such a scenario, if some Anti -National elements would have played the mischief, the same media would have cried hoarse on the lack of proper security arrangements.

Indian media lacks socio-politico responsibilities and it is time to come down heavily on it. If need be, allow only two or three responsible news channels. Noise makers like ARNAB GOSWAMI, KARAN THAPAR, RAJDEEP SARDESAI and their elk, should be sent packing. We already know as to how Indian media had inadvertently helped the perpetrators of Mumbai 26/11 terrorist attack! In its exuberance o enhance TRP , they put security forces operations in jeopardy. Therefore, rather than being a fourth pillar of Democracy, Indian press and media are the chief destroyer of democracy.

Indian judiciary is another system that weakens the democracy from inside. Blinded by colonial era legal system, judges forget the social and political impact of their judicial verdicts. The judiciary adds to worst kind of chaos. Take the Salman Khan case. The case has taken 13 years to pronounce him guilty, while it was open and shut case on Day One. If he was to be punished, it should have been done in 2002. Why did it allow it to be dragged? Same judgement could have been given then. It allowed the accused to manipulate the system and now it has come out with a judgment, when even victims of  "Salman's -driving -act -folly"are not happy with the punishment meted out to him. Justice delayed is justice denied. Unfortunately, judiciary does not itself understand the golden rule of its own jurisprudence.

How rotten has become the judicial system is evident from the latest blog by Justice Markandey Katju, who has posted an e- mail from some one who complained about the scam in recruitment of lower judges in the Delhi High Court. If this is the state of affair in the national capital, under the very nose of Supreme Court of India, one can imagine how worse things would be in other places? Here it is what happened, an extract :-----

"------To mark_katju@yahoo.co.in Today at 10:29 AM
Your Lordship,

I write to you on a matter of great concern. Time and again through your judgments, editorial columns in prominent newspapers and facebook posts you have highlighted various problems which plagued the Indian society, the police atrocities as well as the various malpractices prevalent in the judiciary in India. You also have authored the landmark judgment of ''Sakiri Vasu v. State of U.P'' highlighting the doctrine of implied power and many other landmark judgments.

The present case which now I want to brought to your kind notice is a glaring example of malpractice going on in the recruitment to the lower judiciary through Delhi High Court. This latest case is a classic example of delay, favoritism, nepotism, arbitrariness and complete negation of judicial ethics by the Delhi High Court. It is an ordeal of hundreds of lower judiciary aspirants who recently suffered due to nepotism in Delhi High Court.

The factual matrix of the case is that: The recruitment notification of the Delhi Judicial Services 2014 examination was issued way back in February, 2014. The Mains examinations were already being held last year on 11 and 12th of October, 2014. More than six months have elapsed since then but the result of Mains examination were not declared. After seven months the results of Mains exam were declared (whose copy is enclosed as attachment) on 1st May, 2015. To the shock of hundreds of judiciary aspirants, only FIFTEEN candidates were declared as qualified.

What raises the eyebrows is the fact that the candidate who topped the exam with roll number 543 (copy of this result enclosed as an attachment) is the daughter of O.P. Gauba who is one of the sitting judge of Delhi High Court. Another Candidate whose name is with roll number 407 is the daughter of one of the sitting judge of Delhi High Court namely V.P. Vaish. Rest of the thirteen candidates barely managed to secure the minimum qualifying marks. This fact is mainly inferential but does not this call for a probe into the matter that how only these handful of selected candidates with such an influential background managed to clear the exams with flying colours when rest of the 654 candidates were failed by huge margins. Is this not to be termed as arbitrary marking and checking of answer sheets so as to promote ones own sons and daughters.------------------"

Judiciary ought to be asked to deal with cases of different nature in specific time frame. Cases like Stalking or Rape or Molestation of women must be decided within six months. Similarly, hit and run cases be done away within a time frame of 3-4 months. They should not linger on for years on. Judges must not be lenient on the lawyers and allow them time to hoodwink. I personally know of a stalking case, where the accused is a lawyer and he has been able to drag the case for two years and still there was no end insight. The case is open and shut but sympathetic to accused lawyer, it is allowed to drag on.  There are numerous examples, when we see kidnappers, muderers and extortionists roam freely on bail for years on. Lawyers and Indian law are the weakest point of Indian Democracy. They create confusion and disorder.

Why does corruption take place? It is because there was no fear of authority amongst government servants. Why do old timers use to appreciate the British Colonial administration and judicial system? There were instant punishments for wrong doers. Summary disposals used to take place. The result was that there was orderliness and discipline in the system, which Nehruvian model has destroyed and created a self -devouring Indian system of Democracy. The only thing Indian democracy has done is to create functional disharmony  among its people. Instead of tackling poverty and illiteracy, Nehru went in for Heavy Industry. Instead of tackling inherent lingual and regional cleavages within Indian polity, Nehru went in for linguistic reorganization of states. Instead of improving upon the economic plight of down trodden, Nehru introduced a system of Reservation, which created another privileged class and further divided the society. Social and religious alienation has only added to frustration of the people, which is the mother of tension, violence and hatred.

Third factor militating against Indian democracy is electoral and political system of governance. It is a system, where Government can not rule. a lot of political adjustments and compromises are to be made to run the government's. Take the simple case of land acquisition bill. The government has been struggling to get it passed because of minority in Rajya Sabha. At first place, one does not understand the usefulness of Rajya Sabha. It has been blindly copied from West Minister Abbey system of UK. It must be done away with. In fact, increase the strength of Lok Sabha. There should be direct election to Rajya Sabha. The winner in General Elections goes to Lok Sabha and the runners up goes to Rajya Sabha. The party, which has a majority in the combined strength of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, should form the government at the centre. It can thus, smoothly run its government for five years. Same kind of a system has to be evolved for the states.

RUNNING HARMONIOUS & EFFICIENT ORGANISATION !

Globe is flat and it is the age of knowledge & information,
Human conduct is now dictated by individual aspirations.
Large and big is breaking and causing social transformation----
Churning process is thus leading to conflict and confrontation.
There is a challenge for managers of human organisations---
How to motivate workers towards optimum target realization?
There are 'Nay Sayers'' who find faults with whatever you do,
Ignore and neglect because they have a vision without clues.
There will be sychophants who would often swarm around you,
Guided by by personal agenda, their praise of you is not true.
Transparency is the mother of harmony in any organisation,
Secrecy and favoritism, often, causes distress and frustration.
There must be time for discussion and unbridled consultation;
Also, their is time for decision and its spirited implementation.
If you earnestly adhere to these rules without any violation,
Rest assured, dear Rajee! You run an efficient organization.

OF EGO , ARROGANCE AND GREED

OF EGO, ARROGANCE AND GREED !

If you look for the causes of human conflict, since time immemorial , it points towards three human vanities, ie. Ego, Arrogance and greed. Take any conflict, be it two world wars of the 20th century or the tales behind two famous HINDU epics of RAMAYANA and MAHABHARTA. Bloated egos , Himalyan arrogance and king sized greed of the various personnas of these world events at different intervals of time were the causes behind the human brutalities thrust upon the mankind. To me it seems, both sides of a conflict are equally  affected by these vanities.

Let me  start with a very meaningful WHATSAPP  message I got from my US based son. I won't be surprised if he was the author. If so, I would say genes do carry the thought processes. Yes, it is there  in his DNA because I have always wondered as to why Lord Ram has been eulogized and Ravan, mythological King of Sri Lanka, has been demonized. First, to this beautiful thought on the Whatsapp!  You see, it runs :---

"------ A pregnant mother asks her daughter, as to what did the daughter want, a brother or a sister?
Daughter replied : Brother.
Mother asked: Like whom?
Daughter : like RAVAN.
Mother: what the hell are you saying ? Are you out of your mind?
Daughter: why NOT Mom? He put his kingdom at stake all because his sister (Saroopnakha) was dishonored and I'll treated. Then even after he abducted his enemy's wife, he did NOT touch her but kept her imprisoned in an orchard . Why won't I have a brother like him, who would put every thing behind for his sister's honor. Mom, it was NOT a revenge act but a brother's effort to teach a lesson to arrogant brothers that their lady can also be dishonored. And all accounts say that learned man as RAVAN was, he knew of the possible incarnation of God VISHNU as Ram. Yet despite , this knowledge, he had the courage of conviction to challenge the God himself. ---------"

Daughter Carries on , " --- what would I do with a brother like Ram? He exiled his  pregnant wife after a taunt of a washerman, though his wife SITA , always stood by him through thick and thin. She went with him to jungles for 14 years and suffered all the indignities. Why was she put through Agni Parikshat ? Simply, so called Lord Ram wanted to satisfy his ego to be called as MARYADA PURSHOTAM ( Man of Honor) . He wanted to prove himself more as a God than to protect the honor of his Wife. Mom, you being a wife and a sister, , untill when would you keep on asking for a RAM as your son-----------"

Of course , it is a matter of perceptions. But why would you idolize Ram and discredit Ravan? If arrogant LAXMAN had not chopped off Saroopnakha's nose in the presence of Lord Ram, SITA would not have been abducted and RAMAYANA would not have happened. And scriptures tell us that it was scripted by the Gods like this. The question is why an arrogant man with Himalyan Ego be eulogized so much and a man who acted in self respect, be discredited. Fault lay with those who glamourise victors. Vanquished are often ridiculed by paid writers of victors. This is the main lesson of all human conflicts.

I might not marvel at history but I am convinced that marbles of history are often propped up personalities with masked weaknesses. They all have a facade of goodness behind which lay their ugliness. Modern historians often ridicule HITLER for his actions which led to Second World War and tremendous loss of life. What he did  Jews is not hidden from anyone. But what is not being seen that the saintly world of Britain and Europe had committed more brutalities on their colonies during 19 and 20 centuries. The positive effect of Hitler's war on BRITAIN that it broke the backbone of BRITISH empire and many an Afro- Asian nations shed the yoke of colonial slavery, which was as bad as gas chambers of HITLER.

Religious arrogance of some ,today, is the mother of hawkish views which causes violence and intolerance. Enlarged egos also lead to greed which tramples others genuine rights. Look at the way Politicians are behaving in India. Every human issue is lost in the din an noise of political battles. What happened in Delhi in AAP farmer's rally is a finest example of how incidents are exploited. The fact is that none of these political parties know anything about faming and farmland. I wonder how they have become the champions for the cause of Farmers. Guys like Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal and their elk do not even know the difference between "RAAVI" and "KHREEF" crops. The whole issue is just to instigate farmers against Land Bill proposed by Narender Modi Government.

It is sad , if true, that death of farmer Gajender Singh in the AAP rally might be a planned drama , which went awry. How sickening it is ? The leaders like MUNISH Sisodia and SANJAY singh appear to be enjoying the drama , as per the photographs appearing on the social media. Even after the death had occurred , the AAP rally goes on, as if nothing had happened. This speaks of the arrogance of these leaders that nothing can happen to them. I fail to understand as to why the Indian judiciary is sleeping? Why DELHI High Court or Supreme Court Croes not take Suo Motto notice of this and haul up AAP 'who's who'sitting on the dias , watching this painfull political drama?

A terrible loss of life has taken place because of someone's political greed to exploit sensitive issue faced by farming community by play acting a dangerous suicide act. It is not only the greed but also the arrogance which comes out quiet openly, when AAP leaders remark that next time, Arvind Kejriwal would talk to his supporters by climbing a tree or words to that effect. It is their inflated ego after the Delhi elections which makes them behave like this. Results have madeArvind Kejriwal a perceived infallible God amongst AAP workers and Supporters. Such conclusions are the causes of human miseries, be it HITLER, or the guardians of lost BRITISH empire or self righteousness of US administrations under its various presidents. Even likes of Arvind Kejriwal of today suffer from this self righteousness----- the mother of Enlarged Ego ------ and humanity suffers.

MORALITY CRISIS: GENERALSHIP , WHAT AILS YE?

MORALITY CRISIS: WHAT AILS YE, GENERALSHIP ?

Lieutenant General Ata Hasnain, erstwhile Military Secretary and the General officer with abundant experience of conducting counter insurgency operations in Kashmir, has authored an article , advocating as to how to go about NURTURING STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP in the military. I have been a votary of this "thought" for very long. Unfortunately, Indian army has stratified layers of thinking. Most often the views of Colonels and below, serving and retired,  are dismissed because there was a general belief that "Generals think Better than Colonels". It is absolutely untenable conclusion. Those who think so, forget the history of military warfare , more particularly the writings of Liddel Hart, the Captain who taught Generals. He was the man who pioneered the strategy of "Indirect Approach", which was brilliantly exploited by German Generals in Second World War.

Most often the wars are NOT won by those who plan but by those who execute those plans. Even brilliant plans can fail , if poorly directed and foolishly executed. Therefore, there has to be a very close and intimate relationship amongst three types of military leadership I.e. Conceptual, Directional and Executional. At these three levels, different skills get prominence. Thus, while at Executional level, Technical Skills and tactics assume significance; at Directional level, it is minimal technical Skills but decisiveness and forward thinking play a vital role. However, at Conceptual level, it is the strategy and outlining of the philosophy of conducting the military conflict.

It is no gain saying the fact that to acquire conceptual skills, one has to not only understand the ongoing technological advances but also grasp the strategic environments. Besides going through the rigmarole of Executional and Directional Leadership. It is but natural that Generals do not lead attacks and assaults themselves but they ought to have experienced them to understand the implications of execution of their strategy. There can not be mismatch between the two.

Having said this , let me come to the key point: A very good Battalion Commander (Executional Leader) need not be a good " Directional Leader" NEED . Similarly, a good "Directional Leader" (Brigadier or Major General) can not be a good "Conceptual Leader". With this in mind, German Army of the 19 and 20th Centuries had two streams of General officers, I.e. " Staff" and "Command". Both enjoyed equal status. German General staff was reckoned as brilliant in strategic and conceptual planning. Ironically, this is where the Indian Army is suffering. At Corps, Army Command and Army HQ, you do not need super -brat hunters of battle field. You need men with cool head, who can move two steps ahead of the adversary.

Strategy is a battle of wits and not of foolish courage. You need Generals at top, who can foresee   Kargil-99 type situation brewing up and plug the loops. We need military leaders, who can avert the crisis, before the clouds rise. Reverse of this is happening in Indian Army. It is promoting Colonels and Brigadiers to be Generals, who fought "Yesterday's conflicts" well but have no potential to grasp and understand compulsions of "Today's military Complexities". They may be very good executors of plans but they might lack the very penchant to work out very good strategy. Some years back, Indian Army, introduced "Staff stream", but it was treated as something inferior to "Command Stream". It still exists but the tag of inferiority stays and thus its inefficiency and poor efficacy. Most of them seem to square pegs in round holes.

Most often, today, higher ranks are swarmed by people who sequentially move up the ladder because of their performance as executional leaders but not based on their potential to be Directional and Conceptual leaders. Slogging or "Networked - relations" play a prominent part in their upward movement. Convoluted ACR system helped them to get into the slots. Most of them had no penchant for reading strategic environments and understanding of international developments. They proudly talk of their experiences under their "Godfathers".

Talking about experience, I am reminded of Iron Man of Prussia, Fredrick The Great, who united Germany in the 19th Century. He was asked about the significance of Experience in Military leadership. He thought for a while and replied, "Role of experience is relative. If experience was everything, then Prince Eugene Mule should be a Field Marshal , for it has been in the Army for 35 years". Therefore is a need to go for deep selection once it comes to Directional and Conceptual leadership. Let NO MULE become a General.

Today's wars are "Smart" and "Designer"wars. Smart and Designer wars will be characterized by technological advances of the time and rapidly changing international and national environments. They need excellent conceptual thinkers who can peep into the future and work out an apt strategy. You do not need Generals who can fight well " Yesterday's War".

I am shocked when I see Generals commenting that Indian Army must not be used for Internal security tasks. They do not understand the new philosophy of forms of war. The weight has shifted from " Absolute Wars " to WOM (Wars By Other Means) or I would say "Outsourced WaRs" by "Irregular Soldiers", be it "Maoists" or "Taliban". Nuances of this kind of war must be understood by Indian Generalship. They must forget the days of Bangla Desh type of war. This kind of luxury is available only to Super Powers. India does not enjoy this luxury. The threat to Indian nationhood is more from internal implosion than nukes from Chugai Hills or Beijing.  Which other wars these generals want Indian Army to be prepared to fight if India explodes through "OutsourcedWar" being fought by Maoists or Kashmiri Militants.

Therefore, there is a clear mismatch of the vision of Indian Generalship and emerging Forms of War. If during Kargil-99 or Parliament -2001 or even Mumbai 26/11, you could not cross border, what other provocation will make you do so. The same compulsions would stop you. It is time to promote those officers to higher ranks who have flexible outlook towards emerging nature of military conflicts. Chinese sponsored Maoists insurgency is a greater threat to India than any external threat. At best, external enemies will exploit this vulnerability. It is time to nip the evil in the bud. And Nation must apply its best equipped and trained force to tackle it. Sack the Generals who think it is NOT the job of the Army.

I, sometimes, feel that Generals of Indian army are out of sync with the modern military environments in which they have to function. If it has an iota of truth, then, bulk of the present Indian Generalship was unequal and unsuitable to the envisioned task they are required to perform. Most of them lack the basic attribute of a Military General, which manifests itself as unquestioned and unprecedented trust reposed in them by their subordinates. If there are exceptions to this, it confirms the existence of this malice.

Trust deficit is the major undoing of Indian Generalship. Before I go any further, let me quote a message , floating in the social media, on the Indian Generalship. It is on the issue of NFU, ( Non Functional Up -Gradation). The message claims that there was s proposal for implementing NFU for all military officers also.It explains that the grade pay of junior officers would become 8700 in 13 years ; 8900 in 16 years and 10000 in 20 years of service,  irrespective of the rank. The message amplifies that the provision already exists in all India services and group A services. It elaborates that there was an AFT order to implement this. Here comes the punch line : "But our General Saabs feel that if a written off Lt Col gets Rs10000 as grade pay and stays at same hotel as they do ,then their 'hard work' put in to become Generals will be of no use. So our own men on top are stonewalling this implementation."

Such an impression of Indian Generals/ Air Marshals and Admirals put them in a very poor light. It completes the trust deficit and make them unfit to wear the badges of Generals/ Admirals/ Air Marshals. The concluding part of the message is really horrifying. Are we expecting an undercurrent of a Tsunami of a rebellion building?
I quote:-

"---------It's time the Generals and Air Marshals and Admirals become accountable to the men under them. It is very easy for the babus to influence decisions as only one man need to be influenced on top to accept less pay package for entire army. Please pass it on to all Faujis. It's high time the autocratic way of generals are mended-------"

This kind of message might be seen as mutinous but one must ask as to why such a condition has arisen that subordinates have this perception of their Generals. It is not first time that such messages have been flashed in the social media. A few months back a message condemning Indian Generalship in Kashmir had gone viral on the social media. It owed itself to the gunning down of some youths due to mistaken identity and the perceived "gag order", which assumed that militants killed sentries at an army post, at point blank range, because they were forbidden to fire at approaching militants without identifying them. The message had caustically hinted that Indian Generals think terrorists roam with head bands. Besides, it also brought out that genuine mistakes would occur when you play with fire and " Generals " must have the gumption to accept these mistakes rather than looking for 'scape goats'.

The question which should beg every concerned military person's mind is why was there such a perception about Generals of the army?  What has drastically gone wrong over the years? On the time curve of Independent India where does the needle stop ? I think the answer lay somewhere midway between the years BANGLA DESH war of 1971 and Kargil-1999. The downslide of values and ethos started as a trickle in 1971 and became a deluge by Kargil - 1999. And today, it is almost a Tsunami of degraded values. Am I overly critical? No, I am not? I am only looking at the mirror which shows us our ugly face.

Instead of hounding for those who blow the whistle or initiate such messages , as highlighted above, it is time to think about the trust deficit that exists in the higher and junior ranks. First step to do is to accept that it was really there and the fact must not be dismissed as an alarmist's hissing sound. Let us examine its causes. Don't dive far into time machine. Here are a few notable examples, which must tell one that in the days of social media revolution , these lapses get magnified and subordinates get disoriented and lose faith in the higher echelons of army.

Tell me, when a retiring Chief of the Army Staff ( COAS) , manages to become a low medical category ( LMC) for impaired hearing , just a fortnight before his retirement , what message it sends to environments ? I am sure , he did not damage his ears while sitting in the soundless air conditioned office of the COAS. Further, when media goes viral with the names of 106 very very senior Defence officers, Brigadiers and Generals, including two COAS and one Naval Chief, in the Mumbai's Adarsh Society Scam, what confidence it enthuses amongst the lower ranks. When Generals and Brigadiers are caught selling CSD liquor, what moral rights they have got to punish a Major or a Lt Col, who sell petrol/ coal dust/ or surplus men's rations? Simple , you scratch my back and I scratch your and let us live happily. And sir, these are the guys, in whom the old Generals invest and they become the rising stars of the future. Misdirected emphasis on ACRs in promotions has pushed the wrong men up, first as a trickle, then, as a flood.

"Teheleka Expose" was just a tip of the iceberg, menace is now wide spread. I have only given some landmark episodes. They are multiplying because, as good soldiers, we tend to sweep these incidents below the carpets. And Generals, who made an open offer to his COAS of Rs 14 Crores, roam freely. What impressions do subordinates get, when media flashes this kind of news? Gone are the days of dumb and dud soldiers of " Light Brigade" , who marched into the "valley of Death". They see and hear; they reason it out and they react. And the messages on top I had discussed are the products of this reaction.

In the days of Social media explosion, information can not be controlled. It does tumble out. And once it does, many a reputations are slaughtered. The author of HOW, Dov Seidman, says : "It has been said that information is like a toddler. It goes everywhere, gets into everything , and you can not always control it. " He bats for total transparency in the acts of higher leadership. This is a warning to the votary of sweeping such incidents under the carpet.

But things were always not like this. In fact , Generals in olden days, displayed morals of very high standards. Writing in The Tribune, Chandigarh Daily,in his article, "When Generals were warm and friendly", on April 17,2015, a veteran Brig SS Virdi, says , "------Things were quite different when (in fifties and sixties) the officer fraternity was considered as one bereft of so much rank consciousness like ‘General's Forum/ Club’ today, as if they are a different breed. "Manu" seems to be slowly making incipient inroads into our psyche once again.----------"

Here, we are, then. The principal reason of "trust deficit" is a false assumption by today's Generalship that subordinates won't know which they already know. Dov Seidman further explains that an "information society" also breeds " Surveillance Society". In other word, people are more curious and they look for more. This is also true of soldiers and military profession.

To nurture the Strategic leadership, army has to first ensure that moral degradation of Generalship is arrested. Only then we can rebuild the trust deficit and bring in transparency in the functioning of the higher echelons of military leadership. You can not do it by chalking out a "Succession Plans" for the COAS or others. Such a strategy is aimed at placing pliable men in chosen appointments to indulge in unethical practices. It stinks of the moral bankruptcy of the army. My statements might hurt some old guard , who think nothing is wrong. Well! They are arrested in the time capsule of their period. Alas! Generalship of today does not exudes confidence.

And Lt General Ata Hasnain has very rightly emphasized the need for nurturing strategic leadership because strategic and international environments demand this. One is thankful to the almighty that his breed still exists and we might not be so awfully bad after all and some cosmetic efforts might turn the tables. I hope so. And I end with a quote from T S Elliot : "Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge? Where is the knowledge we have lost in information? "

POLITICS AND INDIA----POEM------BETTER THINGS TO DO IN LIFE

POLITICS AND INDIA: THERE ARE BETTER THINGS TO DO!
'Promise and forget' is every politician's usual trick,
Then,twist and distort is very often indulged antics;
Noise on the black money had gone far and wide,
Now they say disclosure would spoil our nation's ties.
BJP politicians are not different from Congress,
Promises they made, but not showing progress;
"One rank - one pension" had veterans enticed,
Who supported BJP as if nothing better to do in life.
Modi yelled at Siachen, he has fulfilled the promise,
Jaitley asks veterans to scale down their aspirations;
Parrikar screams,"On this issue, I am not very wise."
Now, veteran like VK Singh, has no face to show in life.
Allegations and accusations so adore our system--
Pulling down political rival has become a custom;
Scams and frauds are Indian media's staple diet,
Don't they have some better things to say about life?
"Bofors" to ""Saradha", there is a long list of scandals----
Making Indian politics now a play ground of scoundrels;
Debating them you would only lose your peace of mind,
Greed and self-seeking motives have made them unkind.
Why don't we talk about ancient history and culture?
Unravel the epochal mysteries, masked in conjectures;
Why brood over Congress not sending Modi an invite?
When there are so many better things to do in this life.
Politics in India is becoming utmost dirty day by day,
Politicians make tall promises and then always betray;
Why must we waste time on Congress and BJP strifes ?
I say "Rajee" there were plenty of better things to do in life.
