NATIONAL SECURITY: WHAT IS IT AND WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?

NATIONAL SECURITY: WHAT IS IT AND WHO IS RESPONSIBLE ?
In recent years, issue of National Security has become a ping - ping ball and everyone was kicking it. From Media to social organisations like RSS; National Security advisor ( NSA) to State Chief Ministers ; Politicians to bureaucracy and government organs such as MHA , MOD and MEA, all of them have been behaving as if security of the nation was their sole responsibility. There is an utter confusion.
Does any one of these people / organisations know what comprises national security ? Chief of a social organisation thinks that in three days he can create a private Army who can handle security more effectively than current bunch of Security forces. A state Chief Minister thinks that she was the boss and AFSPA-1958 (Armed Forces Special Power Act ) is all bunkum. She ordered lodging of a FIR against an army officer who acted in self Defence when some miscreants pelted stone on his party. Some times back highest court of the land had passed an order to say that FIR would. be lodged in all cases of encounters.
Then, there is a lot of confusion between National Security and Law and order problems. Not only this, National Security has been further sliced into Internal and External security and being assigned to different organs of Central Government. NSA to MHA; MOD to State Governments, have, thus, all become Executive Authority to conduct national Security operations. When there are so many bosses, confusion has to take place as it did during terrorist Attack on Pathankot Air Force Base on 01 January 2016 and more recently during terrorist attack on Sunjuwan Military Garrison on 11 February 2018.
There are number of such incidents. Why does everyone wants to get into the arena.? Simple answer is that Terrorism and Counter Terrorism have become a Glamour Bazar for everyone whether one, who perpetrated terror and the other who counters it. Lack of clear cut definition and areas of responsibilities make everyone rush into it to get their pound of flesh.
National security can not be segmented into compartments and thus distributed as sweets to different proponents. It must have a single executive authority, whether it was internal threat or external threat. Unfortunately, India has divided this role between Home Ministry and Defence Ministry. On top of that, there is the confusion about law and order problem, which is a state subject. Herein lies the glitch. It needs to be sorted out by defining National Security and Law and order.
National security is the assessment of intended, demonstrable and executed threats to national integrity and unity by external and internal foes. It is one big whole and it can not be segmented. Internal foes are separatists and terrorists. They need to be treated as "enemies" and not as "our Misguided Boys". Unfortunately, "our misguided boys" concept leads to ineffective and half cocked measures to deal with internal threats. We, courts and legal system included, fail to note that whoever picks up arms against India, is her enemy. This is the position of the constitution of India. This brooks no non- sense approach, when AFSPA was imposed in a region or a state. Security forces must have a free hand. Appeasement and softness are the biggest enemy of internal security measures.
Armed forces of a nation are organised and equipped to deal with these threat to national security. Therefore, the responsibility of national security must devolve upon armed forces, whether it has a CDS (Chief Of Defence Staff) or not. Defence Minister can take on this tole till government decides to appoint a CDS. But with the fast spreading insurgency and militancy across the nation, the need for a CDS is becoming utmost. NSA can not take on his role because he must focus on strategic affairs and regional environments. NSA can only advise the Ministry of Defence but he cannot be executive authority.
Ministry of Home affairs must focus on Law and Order for which it has Central Reserve Police (CRPF) and state police forces. Time has come when threat to a nation needs to be defined in broad terms. Some of the issue clubbed with Law and order needs to be delinked. Mass agitations, communal violence, organised crime under Mafia, such as drug/ Narcotics trafficking, Smuggling, Militancy and terrorism must fall into the ambit of National Security. Therefore all such forces dealing with them be assigned to MOD. This would include BSF, ITBP, CISF , SB, Assam Rifles and so on.
Law and order should focus on individual crimes such as murder, extortion, kidnapping, criminal harassment, crime against women and children and corruption. CRPF should be an added force with the centre to beef up state police. Conduct of elections can be grouped under Law and order.
In order to ensure proper coordination of national security, one has to get at the most potent threat endangering a nation. To do so , we might have to fall back on the sayings of Chanakya or Kautilya. According to him, there were four kinds of threat to a nation. One , which emanates from outside but aided and abetted from outside. Two which emanates from inside but also aided and abetted from insides.,Three , which emanates from outside but is aided and abetted from inside. The last one, more dangerous is the one emanated from inside and aided and abetted from outside.
It is the last one which India needs to focus--- whether it was North East, MP, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab or J& K. It is therefore utmost important that overall responsibility must lay with MOD, who should work out an internal Security Grid and allocate forces accordingly. This job must not be left to state Governments.
Having done this, we ought to look at AFSPA- 1958. It was designed to deal with Naga Insurgency in 1958 to provide immunity to soldiers. However over the years, Insurgency has taken more diabolical shape with political and legal complications. It needs to be replaced by COZA-2018 ( Combat Zone Act ) , which would ensure once a state has been placed under COZA, state governments would not interfere with the national security apparatus , as has been happening in NE and J& K. The declaration power be given to combined Houses of the parliament and not with central Government. Once COZA was imposed in a state/ region then, only High courts and Supreme Court be allowed to intervene in so called alleged atrocities by soldiers. Time has come to act tough .

India : SAY THANKS TO SOLDIERS FOR FREEDOM IS NOT FREE!

INDIA : SAY THANK YOU TO SOLDIERS BECAUSE FREEDOM IS NOT FREE !

Shiv Khera , author of YOU CAN WIN , in his next book , FREEDOM IS NOT FREE, published in the year 2004, had said ,"Next time, when you meet a soldier, just say, 'Thank You'". This he had said while dedicating his book FREEDOM IS NOT FREE to Indian Soldiers, who according to him sacrifice their lives selflessly to ensure that countrymen sleep peacefully.

I say, "Thank you Mr Shiv Khera for your benevolent words in recognising this selfless service by soldiers." I ask my fellow Indians,"Do you?" At least, bemoan the endless stream of political families who were cashing the sacrifice of their ancestors even after 70 years. Their great grand children are hoping to become Prime Minister / Ministers of the country while sons and wards of PVC / AC winners are rotting in poverty. They pay the price of the selfless sacrifice of their soldier ancestors. We are definitely a land of hypocrites.

Shiv Khera quotes the sacrifice of a Lieutenant Triveni Singh, on 02 January 2004 at Jammu Railway station, who laid down his life, while saving the Vaishnodevi Devi pilgrims from a terrorist attack. He was going on leave to his home in Pathankot. He was waiting at Jammu Railway station to catch a train, when terrorists had struck at Jammu Railway Station. Without caring for his life , he single handedly challenged the attackers and killed two of them. Finally , he fell while chasing the escaping terrorists. His final words to his superiors were, "Mission Accomplished, Sir."

Shiv Khera asserts that Indians enjoy freedom at the cost of the sacrifice made by soldiers. Least they can do is to say "Thank You" . He , in his later Chapters of FREEDOM IS NOT FREE, laments that corrupt politicians and bureaucrats of all hue and cry have let down Indian soldiers from time to time.

He further goes on to say that soldiers were the true Indians. He finds others as RNIs ( Resident Non Indians). To the RNIs, Self is above the Nation while soldiers place Nation above Self. This is the real meaning of being Indian. Shiv goes on to say that India was replete with Punjabis, Gujaratis, Tamils, Marathis and so on or Sikhs, Muslims, Hindus, Rajputs, Jats, Gujjars, Dalits and many other identities but one hardly finds even a tinge of India in them. It is only the soldiers who exude such a scent of being an Indian.

So, true, it is. Soldiers believe in only one religion i.e being Indian. They worship at SARAV DHARAM STHAL. It is in this context, recently after Sunjuwan terrorist attack in February 2018, that Northern Army Commander , Lt Gen Devraj Anbu , had warned politicians so as not to indulge in politicising soldiers.

It is time politicians realise this folly and give due space to soldiers on the national platform. Unfortunately, soldiers have been left uncared and unsung by bureaucratic intrigues and political guiles. India does not give them their dues. In fact most of the times they were being ridiculed.

A chief of a social organisation went on to boast that he could create effective "warriors" within three days, what army cannot do in six months. There could be nothing ridiculous than this --- sadly this comes from a man who was the uncrowned king of the present ruling regime. If it was so simple, then why have such a huge army. Send his volunteers to the border and let them do this job. If they can stay for more than a day on the borders, it will be a great achievement. Such rubbish must stop. The yeoman service done by soldiers must not be so ridiculed.

INDIAN POLITICS: A COMIC TRAGEDY!!!!

INDIAN POLITICS : A COMIC TRAGEDY !

Financial Scams and scandals in India take place with impunity. And as soon as they are detected, the culprits escape to foreign lands without any hitch. Recent banking fraud walks away with  the cake.. Lakhs of crores of rupees have been embezzled by the thugs with the help of banking officials.  However, Governments, at the centre and state, along with opposition parties indulge in the mutual blame game, while culprits have fun and frolic in the foreign lands on these embezzled funds. What is surprising is the ease with which  they got away from this country under the very nose of authorities, who matter.

Why is there no ECL -- EXIT CONTROL LIST -- to ban the flight out of the country of such individuals? In Pakistan, even an ex Prime Minister and some of his family members have been out on ECL. Why do we allow such cases to be dragged in Indian courts whose USP is to  allow "natural death" through procrastination? There should be a law to carry out summary disposal of cases of rape, financial frauds and treason including terrorism. Why is the BJP government dithering in such a law?

While congress and other opposition parties have lost sense of purpose ; ruling BJP has become a mere JUMLA Party. Rahul Gandhi and his cohorts think that by abusing Narinder Modi, day in and day out, they can win electoral battles. He and his silly advisers do not realise that they were doing a great disservice to their party because it was having a reverse effect. It is bouncing back on Congress. Excess of everything is bad. Rahul Gandhi hardly seems to realise this.

Randeep Surjewala, Munish Tiwari and many other big and small names in the Congress party forget the age old adage: TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE BROTH. By linking everything to Narinder Modi, this is what they are doing. Shambholi sugar scam has slammed egg on the face of the congress. In their eagerness to link this case with PM, they Congress tweet scored a self - goal and was embarrassed when it found that Punjab CM's son in Law was linked to it.

Look at the Bhartiya Janta Party. Such a big  banking scam has taken place it is addressing only the effect and not the cause. Vijaya Malaya escaped under its very nose and it is fooling the public by fighting an extradition case in U.K.. Same it has been doing in the case of Lalit Modi. Now Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi are being chased in foreign land.

The government should train its guns on the banks and their management. Arrest all the board of directors and MDs cum CEOs of all such banks and put them behind bars. They are all involved in this. Banks did the same thing during Demonetisation . All bank managers , both private and public, were involved in fraudulent means to help big business men. Government knows about it but none of them is put into jail.

Take the case of Robert Vadra land deals. Why is BJP dilly dallying in arresting him and confiscating his assets. Day in and day out it has been talking about financial misdeeds of  P Chidambram's son. Why is he roaming free? How did the government allow Coalgate accused A Raja and others let go by courts? Was it a botched up inquiry by CBI and others? What about CWG and 2 G scam culprits? No wonder India has slipped to 81 st position in Transparency International's Corruption list. It exposes BJP's inaction and deliberately avoiding pinning down the culprits.

Our Prime Minister might have hiked up India's international image but he has failed to deliver domestically. In public perceptions he is seen to be only making ELECTION JUMLAS but doing nothing beyond this. In fact, people are really wondering if he would ever punish the culprits. Someone commented the other day that it was not in the DNA of BJP to bring scamsters and thugs to books. Some of the BJP bigwigs are related to Congressmen. They cite the case of the wive and sister of two big BJP ministers in the central Government.

It is time BJP and honourable PM take stock of the situation and get to the issue of real time governance. It has to reconsider its political tie-ups with separatist parties, which are doing big harm to her name. It can not its political ally to dictate terms in J& K and demoralise armed forces. Settling of Rohingyas in Jammu region against the tenets of article 370 ought to be questioned. Statement of General Bipin Rawat on increasing Muslim Population in the North East must be taken seriously. There is a deliberate attempt to change the demographic structure of Jammu and North East.

BJP must note that one surgical strike does not make a spring of victories against sponsored terrorism by ISI of Pakistan. It has to get down to business of punishing the culprits real hard in double quick time. Mere statements suggesting that we would respond at a time and a place of our choosing are unconvincing and it amounts to glossing over. Nation wants action and not JUMLAS .

The conduct of two main stream national parties have made India a laughing stock of the world. They are fighting like street urchins. Child- like they accuse each other, while national issues are relegated into background. Is it incompetence or looking after mutual interests of each other while in Government that they take no action? It is a comic tragedy of the nation--- a daily sop played on the national TV News Channels. And today a KPMG- Bureaucracy scam has hit the TV Channels where it has come out that sins and daughters of top IAS officers were appointed in KPMG Firm to seek favours from bureaucrats in key appointments. This was revealed by an IAS officer in an anonymous letter to the Prime Minister in December 2017. What happened to these bureaucrats? It seems they got away without a scratch.

INDIA's DEEP STATE NIBBLING AT HER SECURITY AND INTEGRITY

INDIA's DEEP STATE NIBBLING AT HER SECURITY AND INTEGRITY !

"----The deep state is no leviathan monster. Rather it's an intricate network of politicians, bureaucrats, former judges, retired armed forces officers, senior lawyers, journalists, activists and power brokers.----" Minhaz Merchant laments in his article in The Post on 08 March 2018.  He asserts that this deep state has a vice - like grip on the country from judiciary to bureaucracy to armed forces. It is the cradle of corruption.

No wonder Tushar Mehta, India's Solicitor General , questioned the SC showing consideration to Karti Chidambram for his anticipatory bail plea against arrest by Enforcement Directorate. SC has asked Delhi High court to deal with the plea within 24 hours. Laments Tushar Mehta ,"---"Would an ordinary criminal facing money laundering charges get such treatment?"

An article in Times of India says that the SC has traditionally disposed of petitions from counsel seeking to withdraw a case from the apex court in order to move the HC concerned with a terse ‘dismissed as withdrawn' order. Indeed, it refuses to even record the counsel's submission that he would move the HC. "You do whatever is permitted in law. We will not give you legal advice," has been the standard refrain of SC benches dealing with such cases.

Minhas Merchant elaborates further in his above article , "-------For decades, this tight circle controlled India's political, economic and social narrative. Corruption and nepotism bound them together. Many were subverted by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency and toed the aman ki asha line. Maoists were lionised. Police officers who fought insurgencies and terrorism were prosecuted.-------"

He continues, "When the Sonia Gandhi remotely-led UPA government was in office, this powerful and incestuous cabal was in its element. Its members dominated Sonia's National Advisory Council (NAC). Journalists meanwhile, fell under the spell of public relations operators like Niira Radia-----"

According to him, "------/Those were the go-go years of 2004-08. The global economy was on steroids. Foreign investors were pouring into India. The stock market boomed. The then finance minister P Chidambaram was the toast of the town. I interviewed him in his spacious North Block office in September 2004. For the best part of an hour, Chidambaram's eyes rarely left the television screen placed on the wall to his right, flashing the latest stock prices------"

Quoting Gurumurthy, he states, "------As S Gurumurthy, speaking recently about the deep state said, key appointments in the bureaucracy, judiciary and various institutions of governance like the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) were made on the basis of personal connections and loyalty, not merit.-----"

He sums up the reach and extent of the DEEP STAYE, "------Those appointees, still occupy positions of authority. Gurumurthy is a former adviser to the late redoubtable Ramnath Goenka, founder of The Indian Express. A chartered accountant, Gurumurthy has audited the balance sheets of India's top companies. A single armed guard stands at the entrance to his office in Chennai where I interview him.-------"

Narender Modi Government's inability to break the strangle hold of the DEEP STATE, on all disciplines of Governance, is the key failure of this government. In all walks of the nation, "deep state" is visible. Effect of the Deep State is so much on governance that when Modi Government moves four steps forward, it is pulled three steps backward. Vijay Malaya, Nirav Modi, Jatin Mehta , Mehsul Choksi --- they have all managed to escape when Deep state tipped them of imminent arrests. Judiciary has been showing undue and special consideration to persons like Karni Chidambram and allowing him to go abroad. CBI alleges he managed to destroy evidence while being abroad. One gets the impression that Indian judiciary and law protects the mighty and rich against unpardonable offences, while it punishes the poor heavily for minor or negligible offences. CWG, 2 G , Augusta Helicopter , Coalgate scams rocked the nation when persons like P Chidambram was Finance Minister/ Home Minister. His investment in the "deep state" by way of appointing favourite persons in key positions, is now paying him rich dividends. No wonder India is a corruption cum violence cum terror heaven !!!!!

What say thou??

INDIA : ISIT A NATION OF NINCOMPOOPS ?

INDIA: IS IT A NATION OF NINCOMPOOPS ?
Some others call India a Banana republic? But the way things are happening in the country , it seems we are more than a banana republic. Under the very nose of previous central Government , scams and scandals take place. But Government was a helpless spectator. Now under the present regime , scamsters and thugs like Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, Vijaya Mallaya and Lalit Modi etc, escape the legal dragnet and quietly move out of the country and government shows no urgency to bring them back and put them behind the bars. Excuses are being given that UK laws are hinderances. If so, break off relations.
Act tough, my dear Prime Minister. Do not let India be called a soft state---where anyone can rape her in broad day light. No one wants to listen to "Election JUMLAS". It is Time to act tough. But I n the name of action one only hears the allegations and counter allegations from ruling and opposition politicians. A kind of "TU-TU; MAIN- MAIN" ( तू-तू; मैं-मैं) war goes on between BJP and Congress , while scamsters are having real fun outside the country. Sometimes one wonders if ruling elites at different times had a hand in these scandals and scams.
Look at the arrogance and audacity of Nirav Modi. He outrightly rejects repayment of loans in his letter to management of Punjab National Bank. He says , "“In the anxiety to recover your dues immediately, despite my offer (on February 13, a day before the public announcement, and on 15,) your actions have destroyed my brand and the business and have now restricted your ability to recover all the dues leaving a trail of unpaid debts".
What is our judiciary doing ? The highest court is just not bothered, while it should be taking Suo motto notice of such scams. What was worse is the fact that it lets off these thugs with mild punishments. Rajalingam Raja of Satyam, who was involved in Rs 7000/- crores Scam was let off with 7 years imprisonment. Worst was the fact that he was let out on bail within one month. His properties gotten with this ill- gotten wealth were not confiscated.
Look at some other big scams in the recent times . Sharadha Scam of Bengal of Rs 60,000 crores is still being investigated. In Rose valley Scam of Rs 25000 crores there was no headway. What about 2 G, CWG , Coal gate scams? Supreme Court let go free the Coal-Gate accused , telling the countrymen that there was no such Scam. Who do you believe ? What about the land deals of Robert Vadra? They all have become victims of incompetence of governments. They get propped up only during elections.
It seems politicians to bureaucrats to policemen to judiciary everyone has been compromised. Terrorists strike at will and disappear. Anti- Nationals hurl stones at security forces and the nation watches it without concern. Adding salt to the wounds was the registration of FIR against the soldiers who were pelted with stones. Chief Minister of the state says the she did it after consulting the Defence Minister. Soldiers are martyred on the border and Mumbai filmdom, nay Bollywood is more interested in organising Rahat Fateh Ali Khan shows.
Judiciary, parliament . Executive, all three organs have become a laughing stock in the eyes of the world. A vijay Malaya in England; a Nirav Modi in New York and a Dawood Abraham in Karachi make fun of India and challenge her to do whatever it wants to do. Over more than 25 years, India has been asking Pakistan to hand over Dawood but it shows two fingers. Over ten years ago in November 2008, Mumbai was blasted by Hafeez Sared goons from Pakistan. But India has failed to bring him to justice. Aren't we really a nation of nincompoops?
One must note , whether it was a banking scam or a terrorist attack, it cannot be done without the connivance of politicians and officials. Today, the LoUs were issued to Nirav Modi by a mere Deputy Manager is to fool yourself. Complete management of PNB , including its MD and board of Governors should be taken to task. Ignorance is no excuse. The top management must be made to pay for it. Their properties must be proscribed. But will our government do? No, is the answer because most of these officials are Political appointees. Thus politics is hand in gloves with these thugs. It provides them
Protection. Situation is very hopeless. Nothing seems to be in order. Priority of present regime is Elections and how to get elected again in 2019. India needs an overhaul and it can only come once Jasmine winds blow.

INDIAN DEMOCRACY IS A ONE BIG FARCE !

THE SLEEPING GOD OF INDIAN DEMOCRACY AT HIS 'SHANTI VAN' ,WHO IS THE CAUSE OF THE 'ASHANTI' OF 1.16 BILLION INDIANS TODAY!
Yes, Indian democracy is a farce because it is by the corrupt, of the corrupt and for the corrupt. This democracy encourages chaos and confusion; lawlessness and disorder; favoritism and nepotism and what is worse is the fact that it was the mother of violence, riots and criminality. This democracy bears all the signposts of divisive India through her narrow-minded politicians, self-seeking buraeucrats and insincere law and order agencies, made nincompoop by Indian legal system. India of yore is well on the road to disaster because there was nothing known as governance and administration in this country. SAB KUCHH RAM BHAROSE HAI--- HEY RAM, BACHA LENA IS DESH KO .
The hitherto known 'god of moralities' , Mr MM Singh, is a lost philosopher, who isn't in control of his own wild dreams, running amuck for some personal recognition or award at the international level. This 'lost-in-dreams' , head of farcial Indian democracy ,is unconcerned when one of his ministers , Mr. Raja is accused of a biigest scam ever by a Central Goernment Minister. Instead , Mr. MM singh gives him a clean chit. Remember, this was the same Mr. MM Singh, who had accused his mentor and creator, Mr PV Narsimaharao of corruption , when the latter had bribed JMM MPs to save his government. His sing-song words, then, still resonate a melody in my ears. He had , then said, " Ceaser's wjife must be above board". I don't know what has happened to CEASR's WIFE now ? Or is it she has under gone a gender transformation?This is why I say the Indian democracy is a farce.
'Dantewada massacre takes place but there is a confusion in the Govt ranks on the likely course of action. A ruling party general secretary questions the government and her actions. But the PRIME MONITOR of UPA, the GODDESSof SACRIFICE, doesn't even sulk. The allies do the same. The result is: If the Government takes ONE STEP ahead, it is pulled back TEN steps by her allies and the constituents.
Take the case of Midnapore train accident. There is a lady who was just interested in politics in west bengal. To her the municipal elections are more important than the lives of some 145 people who die or were killed in this train accident. what does she say on this accident? Oh, she says, " it is a political controversy" you ask "what for". obviously her answer would be to make her lose municipal elections in west bengal. These are the priorities of our leaders---or are they leaders or dealers? sickening / how sickening these political wheelers dealers of Indian democracy could be.When some days back , there was a stampede on the Delhi metro railway station and two poor persons lost their lives, this lady minister did not even exporess her condolences for the dead. Aren't our political leaders morally bankrupt? do not forget the air accident at Mangalore. Some 158 people lost their lives and our GOD OF MORALITIES think such things were common and disallows the aviation minister from resigning. iwonder if the minister would have really resigned. it was actually a farcial gesture of a farcial system of governance.
In this democracy, rich are becoming richer, while poor become the terrorists and militants. In between is sandwiched a middle class who can only cry and crib because it is affected the maximum by this sham of a democracy. Here, an Ambani can become the 4th richest man in the world but a poor tribal youth can only become a 'goonda' of the jungles. There is a wide chasm between the two. While the two fight to seek control of the resources, the actual user or the consumer of the middle class is the sufferer. Democracy in our country is the cradle of violence and corruption on one hand and rise of the BOHEMIAN SHEKHS on the other.
There is no forward planning in this country. Look at the small tiny roads both in the cities and outside. They are all jampacked with big- big vehicles----all sort of vehicles--------no one cared for road infrastructure or other facilities before allowing all these fancy vehicles into India---there is no breathing space for the roads----on top of that they are all full of potholes. There is a vehicular chaos on Indian roads. There is no traffic discipline. Policemen are mute spectators of the rape of road rules. In fact, Indian traffic police is more interested in catching the deafaulters and making a quick buck----slush money , you know , rather than guiding and regulating traffic. They would be hiding behind trees or some other shelters to catch motorcycle riders/ car drivers who jump the red light signal.
There is a big' tamasha' every where. Go to a market place----you won't find any parking space. If it were a sunday or a holiday---all hell would break lose. No one is ever thinking odf decongesting the parking areas in the busy markets. The pattern is the same---be it Delhi, Bangalore, Shimla, Jammu or Mumbai. Why can not be think of having multi level parking places to answer for the shortage of space for the parking. Who has the time for such noble idea?. Democracy allows people to be in position of authority , from a municipal councellor to a Central Government Minister for only five years. It is a life time opportunity. So, the rule of the game is to make hay while the sun shines. Create so much of wealth that one's SEVEN generations can live comfortably.
No wonder this democracy has allowed Indian politicians, bureaucrats and business men to amass some 1.5 trillion dollars in the numbered accounts of SWISS BANK. And dear MM singh thinks there was no urgency to get this money back----you know why because most of the money is of the people who run state and central govts, directly or indirectly. some years down the line a drama might be enacted to make noise for extracting this money but by that time each penny would have been shifted to some other taxheaven. Therefore this 1.5 triilion dollars of black money would be lost to india as did the money involved in Bofors, Hawala, Fodder, Submarine and host of ther scams-----this is why Indian democracy is a farce.
Take the case of Indian Media----the so called 4th estate. The media is not only a conglomeration of black-mailers and corrupt but it is also a set-up of ethically bankrupt people. Firstly, I refuse to believe, It is Indian Media----my hunch is there was nothing known as Indian about them----they all work for their foreign masters who control them. Thus this farce of a democracy has given control of this fourth pillar of people's voice to foreigners, who control NOT only Indian executive and law makers through their well planned media campaigns but conduct media trials to influence the govt actions. Take the case of Kassab and Mohammed Afzal Guru, the two death-cell convicts. There is a media campaign spearheaded to save them from gallows on the plea that death sentence was inhuman and uncivilised. I wish some of them should be sent to combat terrorists or some of them have their planes hijacked or even the hotels they stay should be bombarded .Indian democracy has no control over such silly philosophers of human moralitries.
In this farcial democracy, in the name of liberty and freedom, persons like Arun Dhati Roys are flourishing. This self-styled champion of human moralities is allowed to not only slight and denigate India but she also threatens indian unity and integrity by pampering Maoists and supporting Jihadis in Kashmir. No one can tame her this farcial democracy.She is not the only one --there are plenty of lose cannons this democracy has produced. There is one leader from Bihar who when asked to react on Maoists killings in Bihar , responded by saying, " what is the big noise---Maoists have only killed the police INFORMERS?" Imagine he was the Chief Minister of the state for almost two decades and the life of POLICE INFORMERS is pea nuts for him. Do you think your police or other law enforcing agencies would ever be effective, if you have such people leading governance in India. And think of it he harbours an ambition to become the Prime minister of India ! God bless India.
You talk to old timers----those who saw life before 1947----they talk of governance and administration of the British with nostalagia----they still feel those were better times. Their most quoted refrain is that a women fully decked with jewellery and cash could go anywhere in darkness at night and return home unscathed. Let any daring girl of the YOUNGISTAN try today----I bet she would not only be robbed but also be molested and raped. This is what is our democracy, liberty and freedom---a free for all. i remember I wrote a poem some years back ---I IN MY TIMES ;IN THY LAND"----I had also posted on sulekha--- it is a log poem but-here are two opening stanzas for your consideration:-
-->
Grand Pa! Grand Pa!! Where are thou?
Dare you answer my questions so?
What kind of freedom ye sought?
Against foreign rule, whence ye fought;
Was it to obtain freedom of expression?
Or to assume the right of suppression?
Did it envision a license to kill?
Or ye meant ‘corrupt at will’!
Were ‘law’ and ‘out – law’ to move hand in hand?
So ye desired, for my times in thy land!
‘Complete Independence’ was the slogan,
If ye remember the ‘Lahore’ resolution;
Freedom came in forty-seven,
Whence ye ensconced safely in heavens;
How could ye see houses uprooted?
Transmigration of humans mooted!
Men were slaughtered, children maimed,
Blood gushed through alleys and drains;
Women smothered, girls raped in dust and sand,
That’s the freedom of thy times for my land!
I want to talk about Indian judiciary also here. With about TWO crore cases pending in High Courts and Supreme Court, God knows when would justice see the light of the day? Once you are a judge of any of the High Court/Supreme Court-----you just can not be removed unless you resign-----the other course is impeachment-----which can never happen because of farcial politics of a farcial democracy. The less I talk of judiciary, the better it is. Involvement of high court judges, such as 'cash for judgement' scam of Punjab & Haryana High court, is just a tip of the ice berg . Think of " Uncle Judges ' in high courts----some of them have 16-17 Uncle Judges. do I need to talk about lower courts---if this is the state of High Courts.
While all this happening , I also know that India was progressing because of its own momentum. It is not because of indian leaders but because of her inherent strength of resources, size, population and talent that India can not be ignored by people who matter in the world.Tthe words of William Burns, the US under secretary of political affairs, give a soothing effect to the mind. He had visited India recntly. He writes on his blog, " I can't think of a global challenge today that doesn't require Indian cooperation-climate change, counter terrorism,international economic stability, nuclear non-proliferation, economic growth and the list goes on"
------What a dignified and a heart warming view of India? But it would be so if the Indian PENTAGON of POLITICIANS, BUREAUCRATS BUISINESS MEN, MEDIA and INDIAN LEGAL SYSTEM allow India to remain India. May you survive all your unbearable ordeals, MY INDIA!
